Obdulia Sanchez was known for a 2017 drunk-driving crash that killed her 14-year-old sister, which Sanchez livestreamed on Instagram. More recently, Obdulia Sanchez herself died in a drive-by shooting in Stockton, California, on December 3, 2025. 

The 2017 Crash

  • Incident: In July 2017, an 18-year-old Obdulia Sanchez was driving drunk when her car veered off a road in Los Banos, California. She overcorrected, causing the vehicle to overturn.
  • Victim: Her younger sister, Jacqueline Sanchez, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the car and died at the scene. Another teenage passenger was also injured.
  • Livestream: Sanchez gained national attention for livestreaming the crash and its aftermath on Instagram, at one point filming her sister’s body and saying, “I f***ing killed my sister, OK? I know I’m going to jail for life”.
  • Legal Outcome: She was convicted of gross vehicular manslaughter, DUI, and child endangerment, and sentenced to six years and four months in prison. She was released on parole in September 2019 after serving 26 months. 

Recent Events (December 2025)

  • Shooting: On the evening of December 3, 2025, Sanchez was killed in a drive-by shooting on North Gertrude Avenue in Stockton.
  • Details: A man was also injured in the shooting. As of current reports, authorities have not released suspect information or determined a motive, and are investigating if the incident is connected to other recent violence in the area.
  • Prior Arrests: After her release from prison for the 2017 crash, Sanchez had been arrested again in October 2019 on weapons and traffic charges after leading police on a high-speed chase
